Star Wars Home Video Spreadsheet

When I published the first edition of A Saga on Home Video in 2017, it included a checklist in the back to help fellow collectors track which items covered in the book were in their collections. After the massive expansion into the three-volume second edition in 2021, it was not feasible (due to both time and price considerations) to include such a checklist, which would also have been limited only to what was covered in the book itself, leaving out future release or items not covered. Therefore, when I released the second edition, I promised to begin work on a spreadsheet to track my own collection that I would then make public so that others could use it as a basis for their own files to track their own collections.

The result is my aptly- (and simply-) named Star Wars Home Video Spreadsheet.

This Excel file includes worksheets (tabs) for 15+ different formats, along with worksheets for promo items, related items, and an acronym key. A PDF with notes from me to the user about the file and suggestions on how to use it is also included in the ZIP file.

Individual worksheets tend to include item titles, year of release, country of release, distributor, exclusivity, whether a digital copy was included (for more modern packages), where to find the item in From the Star Wars Home Video Library or A Saga on Home Video (either edition), and more. It currently tracks about 1,500 items (though items that are multi-format are repeated on each format’s worksheet, such that, for example, a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack would be on both the Blu-ray and DVD worksheets.)

A video tour of the file can be found here.

Example: Top portion of Blu-ray worksheet (as of first upload of the spreadsheet in July 2025)

While I do not anticipate this being something that I update on a regular basis, I will update the file from time to time when there have been enough new additions to warrant a new upload.
