Star Wars en Direct Returns Live Sunday Night
(source: Star Wars en Direct, 12-15-07)

The saga of Star Wars en Direct has been a twisted one in 2007. With Dany Pepin leaving to begin Creative Audioscape (and releasing Omega Squad: Targets as an audio drama adaptation) and Brian Kierans leaving to start a new podcast, the series lost half of its hosts, leaving only Sebastien Mineau and Audrey Mayall. After that change, the series continued periodic live episodes, but notices about these episodes was sketchy at best, so few knew of the episodes, and the last few live episodes have never been archived as downloadable MP3's in the way that previous episodes had. Toss in the show's website going down and being replaced by a simple set of "listen/chat" links and it seemed things were going downhill for the series.

Then, in May, the series went on apparent hiatus, with no new (known) episodes aired since then.

Finally, we received word last night from Sebastien Mineau that Star Wars en Direct is slated to return with a new live episode to air Sunday, December 16, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern via the show's website. This episode is said to be the last of 2007 (while also being the first of a series return, it seems). It should feature "a few special guests and hosts," and should discuss the 30th Anniversary of A New Hope (tying back into the series going on hiatus in May), the future of SWD, and is said to include an announcement that will "change the way you listen to fan audio."

(We've been aware of the latter issue for some time, and details will come once the concept is announced on SWD this weekend.)

So, be sure to check out the live return of SWD Sunday night.
