Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
Star Wars en Direct Return Postponed Fans of Star Wars en Direct have had a rollercoaster of a year, as they've seen the longstanding series morph several times, adding new panelist Audrey Mayall, losing Dany Pepin, and then going on hiatus. As that hiatus began, we learned of another surprise, as Brian Kierans left the show as well, leaving only Sebastien Mineau (there since the beginning) and Audrey Mayall (the team's newest member) to carry on the SWD torch. We have since been informed that Brian was leaving for other projects and school issues that needed his attention and that part of the hiatus came about because Audrey was going on a month-long vacation, which removed her from production for a while. In the interim, former SWD producer Dany Pepin has moved on to producing SithClan.Net's Delta Source podcast, while also working on his audio drama adaptation of Omega Squad: Targets. The SWD archives were also unavailable, and we've finally learned that this was due to problems from the theft of money from the show's file host, SimpleNet. All of this culminated in the announcement that SWD would return with a new Star Wars en Direct 2.0 English-language live show on the night of September 10, 2006 (tonight). We have learned, however, that this live return will not go on as planned. Sebastien, who would have been handling the live show with Audrey (presumably) and updating the website for the show, came down with a case of food poisoning that has nixed the idea of doing a live show tonight. We are told that the live show will return with the premiere of the 2.0 variant of SWD next Sunday (September 17). More on the return of SWD as things develop. Star Wars en Direct |
