Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
Two Classics Come to Fanworks The fan audio genre that Fanworks is here to promote was pioneered on the internet in 1999 by a group of guys that today's fan audio enthusiasts may never have heard of. They were Victor Maier, Eugene Cash, and Marc Henderson, and, along with Ian McCormic, these men produced the long-lived, weekly Star Wars fan radio show, Jedi Talk and its parody component, Stormtrooper Bob. In recent years, Jedi Talk has ended, and the Jedi Talk archives (over 150 episodes of two files each, if you can believe it!) have been taken offline. Meanwhile, ASF copies of Stormtrooper Bob have found their way to TFN Fan Films. Beyond that, the legacy of Jedi Talk has carried on in programs like ChronoRadio and Star Wars en Direct, but the show itself has fallen back to a point that many current fan audio fans say, "Jedi What?" As luck would have it, Victor "Darion Blade" Maier of Jedi Talk recently got in touch with our newest staff member, Rich Sigfrit, and the two worked out an arrangement to provide Jedi Talk and Stormtrooper Bob with featured program pages (in the same fashion as Star Wars en Direct), as a means of keeping their great legacy alive. Will this relationship grow in days and years to come? Perhaps. Will the Jedi Talk team manage to get a new archive server up for their loyal fans? We can only hope. For now, drop by the new featured program pages to catch a glimpse of fan audio's roots. Jedi Talk Stormtrooper Bob |
