Star Wars Fanworks is happy to announce and help spread the word about the launch of a brand new fandom-based website, created by The Furry Conflict's Julius "Marcus Xavier" Harper. Here's the lowdown:

Sunday, August 28, 2005 marks the official launch of PlanetFandom.com, the fan-focused news source designed to keep Sci-Fi fans up-to-date with the latest info in Sci-Fi fancasting, fan films and fan animation. Working in conjunction with the generous talent of Nathan P. Butler, Star Wars Fanworks, Star Wars en Direct, and others, PlanetFandom.com hopes to build a database of timely and accurate information to become the premier authority on the web for science fiction fandom projects and events. PlanetFandom.com . . . Hail to the Fanboys.
You can find a new link to PlanetFandom.com in the right-hand column of the main Fanworks page. In the days to come, Fanworks will join in the stream of new release updates that will be appearing on PlanetFandom to help spread the word about Star Wars fan audio.

Some might ask, "Why team up with a site that's doing the same thing you are?" Well, those people would be incorrect in their thinking about the nature of PF. The new site is a sort of clearing house for fan media news from all over the internet, not just Star Wars, acting as a news hub, rather than as a comprehensive genre website like Fanworks is for Star Wars fan audio. It's a chance at cross-promotion, similar to various fan audio teams (with podcasts) teaming up with Michael Stackpole's SciFi Podcasting Network.

If you have or are working on a Sci-Fi podcast, fan film, or other fan project that you would like to promote on PlanetFandom.com, please get in touch with "J. Marcus Xavier," the editor of PlanetFandom at editor@planetfandom.com.
