Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary

The End of Tatooine TV
(source: Tatooine TV, 08-28-05)

The fan audio community was greeted with some sad news yesterday from Jeff Roney, creator of RoneyZone Radio and Tatooine TV.

Tatooine TV, which was slated to end with its very next episode (TTV #25), has been cancelled. That intended final episode will not be produced, meaning that the most recent episode, TTV #24, is the series' end.

Here's the word from Jeff:

Tatooine TV
Born: August 26, 2003
Died: August 27, 2005

It has been a great experience to write, produce and mix these comedic episodes (even though some of you didn't think so). Getting everyone to record this last one has been a pain I wish no longer to endure, so I say that's it, goodbye, adios, and bub-bye to Tatooine TV. I ran out of script ideas and people to record stuff. I'm not bitter; I have other audio ventures to move on to. Thanks for the kind words, the awards, even the not-so-kind words, and generally putting up with a 40-something year old [in the fan audio community]. Its amazing that I learned eveything I did on the fly and by emulating all of you here. I may (and I stress may) put out a special in the future, but I need to take a break from TTV for a (long) while. You all here have given me so much; I will always be in your debt. I don't want to start naming names, but thanks Nathan [Butler], Dany [Pepin], Seb [Mineau] and Brian [Kierans] for giving these little audio parodies a chance. I hope my new ventures will raise the bar and some eyebrows around here. You guys rock! Well, this old man needs a rest. :: props up feet :: ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And with that, we reach the end of an era and look to an uncertain future for Star Wars audio parodies, without the long-standing Tatooine TV to help blaze the trail. Our congratulations go out to Jeff Roney for a fine series and two years of helping us all keep laughing, but at ourselves and the saga we so adore.
