Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary

FanAudio.com Launched

Fans of Star Wars fan audio have had Star Wars Fanworks to fill their needs since September 1, 2003. Meanwhile, as the Star Wars fan audio genre has continued to blaze trails and be one of the leading franchise genres in fan audio (perhaps the single leading franchise, if we can be so bold as to say so), fan audio productions for other franchises have developed as well.

Fans of Star Wars fan audio might be familiar with such original works as Echoes or In the Blood by fan audio creators, but some fan audio creators in the Star Wars genre have also become known for producing non-Star Wars works, such as Steve Mollmann's Star Trek: Foundation or the Star Trek: The Section 31 Files from Eric Busby.

Well, now, a new fandom website has emerged to cover the broader fan audio genre (not just any one franchise), spearheaded by Russell Sanders (creator of the fan audio drama Battlestar Galactica: The Exodus Series). This new website is FanAudio.com, touted as the home of the fledgling Fan Audio Society (FAS).

We at Fanworks are hoping to help cross-promote with FanAudio.com and encourage the crossover of talent between various fan audio franchise genres, which we hope will help spur on fan audio as a whole.

The website officially launches on September 1, 2006 (ironically the third anniversary of Fanworks, third anniversary of Requiem of the Outcast, second anniversary of Star Wars and Beyond, etc.). The site is live now, however, and we encourage interested fans to head over and check it out, while also joining the FAS via their forums.

We hope to see you around both Fanworks and Sanders' FanAudio.com.
