Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary

Runaway Extras Released
(source: Runaway, 08-18-06)

The controversy surrounding the rewriting and recasting of the Ruanway audio drama (written by Matt Loewen and mixed/rewritten by Steve Fluharty) has borne fruit, of a sort. We've learned several things since last night's initial report.

While we have not yet heard from Steve Anderson or Rachel Bizz (voice actors who were both cut from the production entirely), we've had the chance to discuss the issue (off the record, unfortunately) with the Loewen brothers regarding the cast and story changes.

The direction decided upon by Runaway's original creator, Matt Loewen, has been to have his "Director" credit for the audio drama removed and reallocated to Steve Fluharty. He has also chosen to release two supplemental files for the audio drama. The first is a complete final draft of the script as it was originally written by Loewen, before any changes made by Fluharty during production. The second is a sort of "extras" file that presents an alternate ending to the story (though we believe this was an early alternate ending compared to even what was in the final script, not an ending based on the final script itself, which, of course, differs from the final project's ending).

Those two new supplemental files are available now on the Runaway page, and the appropriate "Director" credit has been altered. Where this particular issue goes from here is unknown. As always, we'll keep you posted.
