It has been a long while since we've had news to report about Star Wars: Second Strike, the Rayzur's Edge Audio fan audio drama that helped launch the Star Wars fan audio drama genre with its online premiere (a first) in December 2002.

What some might not have realized is that while 2007 is the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, it is also the 5th Anniversary of Rayzur's Edge's Nathan P. Butler's ChronoRadio (hence its anniversary and finale last month), the 10th Anniversary of the Star Wars Timeline Project (hence a special anniversary update in October), and . . . the 5th Anniversary of Second Strike.

Not to leave the project out, Butler is announcing that the Second Strike anniversary will be celebrated with all three acts of the audio drama (Descent, All Fall Down, and Ascension) being re-released as a series of MP4 video files, featuring running text commentary throughout, providing insight into the production of the groundbreaking project.

(Butler takes direct inspiration for the project from Joe Harrison's great work on the Visual Commentary version of the first chapter of Conquest of the Empire, and has been given quite a bit of assistance by Harrison himself.)

No date is set yet for the releases, but we can report that the first act is finished, but the other two acts have only barely been started. We should not expect a release date to be announced until all three are complete, but we can likely expect to see the files released this summer or fall, rather than relases timed to the actual release months of the original audio drama.
