Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
ChronoRadio Schedule Update Nathan P. Butler from ChronoRadio updates us on what's coming this year from ChronoRadio, including a few newly-confirmed dates. As announced back in ChronoRadio #18: DVD and D.O.A. in December, regular CR releases will continue in 2005 every other month. February will be Nitpicking the Saga (with Bob Vitas and a head-to-head editorial segment on Curtis Saxton's Star Wars Technical Commentaries. April will be Tales on Pause, dealing with the lasting impact of the Tales of the Jedi and Knights of the Old Republic eras, plus that of Star Wars video game characters, with guest Brien Bell. June will, of course, be the Revenge of the Sith episode (Return of the Revenge). August will be A Kind of Magic, looking at the parallels between Harry Potter and Star Wars (with guest Deanna Atkinson), along with a discussion on the Force as paranormal phenomena or magic. October will be Official Fans, Niche Fans, featuring a look at useful and unique fan sites, plus a return to the question of the need and impact of the Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards. December has a regular episode as well, though no subjects have been set. (One Supplemental Edition is also set for July, which will recap ConCarolinas 2005.) In January, a new Interview Edition with Bob Vitas was released, and new Interview Editions are forthcoming, including a new two-parter (Feb. 1 and Feb. 15) with Kevin J. Anderson (which, by the way, will premiere a fan-made audio teaser for KJA's Saga of Seven Suns novel series), at least one with Jeremy Barlow (no release date set), and one with Tom Hodges. ConCarolinas 2005 is also presenting the opportunity for an Interview Edition with Greg Keyes (possibly in conjunction with Requiem of the Outcast, like with Alan Dean Foster last year), and a possible non-Star Wars interview with Farscape's David Franklin. Serial Editions also continue this year with the four-part Serial Edition sequel to the Nothing Changes audio drama, Everything Changes. The story has ten regular chapters, plus a prologue and an epilogue, so three of the twelve story segments will appear in each of the four serialized parts. While no date is set in stone yet, the hope is to premiere Everything Changes, Part I on March 1, then follow up with the subsequent three parts on March 15, April 1, and April 15. Finally, the Film Commentaries series should return in late 2005 with at least one new edition. At present, commentaries are already in the works for Attack of the Clones, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. No matter how far work on those progresses, though, none will be "locked" for release until after Revenge of the Sith hits theaters, so that ROTS information can be included in the commentaries. This summer, though, provides ample worktime to get more segments done for the commentaries, so we'll likely see at least one, if not all of them, done sometime before the end of 2005, with the one major exception being Revenge of the Sith's commentary, which can't be started until the film is released on DVD, months after its theatrical release. There are also rumblings out there that Rayzur's Edge Audio will be returning with a Butler-mixed (his first since Nov. 2003's Responsibility, over a year ago), Star Wars fan audio drama of some kind later this year. Details aren't yet available to the fan audio public, but several names already attached to the project include Bryan Patrick Stoyle, Christopher Walker, Rich Sigfrit, Ian Bowie, and Gary Mongar. (Walker, Sigfrit, and Bowie have all appeared in previous REA audio dramas, while Mongar is best known for the fan film Jango, which almost certainly means that either Jango Fett, Boba Fett, or a clonetrooper will be appearing in the audio drama.) More details will be released on the new audio drama project as they're made available for print. ChronoRadio |
